According to Football lnsider, John Ruddy is ‘set to leave’ Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, as the Midlands outfit ‘have not offered’ him a new deal.
The 33-year-old is out of contract in the coming months and looks set to end a three-year association with Wolves that saw him win promotion to the Premier League and reach the Europa League.
Ruddy joined Wolves from Norwich City in 2017 and has gone on to make 60 appearances in all competitions, conceding 49 goals and keeping an impressive 31 clean sheets.
The England international was first-choice between the sticks upon his arrival but lost his place in goal when Rui Patricio arrived in 2018. Ruddy has been reduced to cup competitions in the last two years, so his departure won’t come as much of a shock.
Fans will be disappointed that he’ll be allowed to leave, however. Ruddy has been a good servant for Wolves and is one of the better No.2s in the Premier League, so his departure will force the Midlands outfit to shop for a replacement.
Loris Karius had been linked with a move to Wolves, ironically as Ruddy was tipped to replace him at Besiktas, but it remains to be seen who they’ll sign to offset the loss.
