Official: Wolves confirm 7th summer departure, another midfielder ‘leaving Wolves academy’

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that Todd Parker is ‘leaving from Wolves Academy’, joining Jordan Graham, Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, Connor Johnson, Callum Thompson, Ming-Yang Yang and Jed Abbey through the exit door.

The 18-year-old failed to make a first-team appearance, didn’t make the step-up to the U23s and had come to the end of his contract this summer, so his Molineux departure isn’t a shock.

Parker joined Wolves 10 years ago and has gone on to make 40 appearances for the U18s. He turned 18 in April but hasn’t managed to kick on and progress to the U23s.

In the first-team, Morgan Gibbs-White, Romain Saiss, Ruben Neves, Leander Dendoncker, Joao Moutinho and Bruno Jordao are ahead of Parker in the pecking order, so he never stood a chance of getting minutes under Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Wolves manager has given opportunities to many young players and even signed three teenagers (Luke Matheson, Enzo Loiocide and Leonardo Campana) in January.

Parker just hasn’t developed enough to warrant a new deal while Chem Campbell (aged 17), Terry Taylor (18), Taylor Perry (18), Luke Cundle (18) and Lewis Richards (18) have minutes under their belt for the first-team because they’ve overtaken him.
