Bright Enobakhare was released by Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, ending a six-year association with the club. The 22-year-old joined Wolves in 2014 and impressed enough in the academy that he signed a professional contract the following year.

Unfortunately, Bright didn’t progress enough in the last two years to warrant being handed a new deal, and being loaned out to the Football League for regular playing time was evidence of the level he was at. Wolves had little choice but to let him seek opportunities elsewhere.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

The Nigerian striker made 49 appearances at Molineux, scoring only three goals and making one assist. His last goal in a Wolves shirt came all the way back in September 2017 and his last appearance came in May 2018.

In the two years that followed, Wolves went from a Premier League side hoping to consolidate to a club chasing a top-six finish. Bright didn’t improve, however.

He was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the 2018/19 campaign and was loaned out to Kilmarnock. Bright returned five months later after making just six appearances and failing to score in Scotland.

The 22-year-old joined Coventry City for the remainder and had a hand in nine goals from 18 games, earning him their Young Player of the Season award.

That was in League One, however, and Bright’s failed move to the Championship (3 appearances for Wigan Athletic and 0 goals) the following campaign spelled his fate.

His loan at the DW Stadium was cut short in January 2020 and Bright was then left out of Wolves’ Europa League squad, so it was clear his future looked to be away from Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo preferred Raul Jimenez, Leonardo Campana and Renat Dadashov. Bright is now a free agent and may be a target for Birmingham City or Coventry City.
