With Wolves going through probably their best spell of the 21st century, rumours are beginning to grow about the future of the mastermind behind the operation.

Obviously, with the club on the brink of something spectacular by flirting with the Champions League spaces and being in the last 16 of the Europa League, Nuno Espirito Santo is extremely unlikely to leave before this season reaches its conclusion, but that has not stopped him from being linked to other clubs.

According to Alan Nixon from the Sun, Nuno is at the top of Atletico Madrid’s list as a manager who could replace Diego Simeone, if he does end up leaving the club, with PSG reportedly wanting to make a move for him.

The piece claims that they could make an attempt to take him from Madrid at the end of the season, with Thomas Tuchel being unable to build on the job that Unai Emery did at the club.

Would Nuno leave us before his contract expires at the end of next season?

No way - and he'll stay afterwards, too

If a big club comes calling

Nope, but he will leave at that point

It’s likely that the PSG’s fate in the Champions League will depend on whether they go for Simeone, and even then there are no assurances that he would prefer that move.

Either way, it is potentially a worrying sign that Nuno is being considered of Atleti’s level, as his reputation is clearly big enough to be attracting some of the biggest clubs.

There was a pretty mixed response from the fanbase. Some just simply don’t buy into the rumours, while one thinks that Mauricio Pochettino could be a potential replacement and another one personally thinks the rumour could be true due to Jorge Mendez’s links with the Madrid-based club.

Here are some of the replies…

Nuno’s style of football, which can often be quite direct, as suggested by just a pass completion rate of 78.8 per cent from his team, might well suit Atletico, so you can see why the rumours are there.

Realistically, though, it is all speculative at this stage, and it’s hard to see anything becoming more concrete until the season is done: Nuno has bigger fish to fry right now.

Why would Nuno leave a massive club were he is coaching in the biggest and best league in World football for tin pot clubs playing in tin pot leagues that are a match for our league one!
