With the January rumour mill suggesting that Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ryan Bennett would make a deadline day loan switch out to Leicester City for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign, the club have confirmed this evening that the deal has gone through.

The BBC report that it’s a loan to buy deal, but rather than being obligated, Leicester simply have the option to make it permanent next summer.

The 29-year-old has featured seven times for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo in our Premier League campaign this year and overall, should he now have played his final game for us, he leaves with 83 starting appearances, with nine further showings from the bench following his free agent arrival back in May 2017 from Norwich City.

Not bad service for a freebie and he’s made than played his part in our recent improvements under Fosun.

Santo said of his departure this evening.

“Ryan has been amazing for us in these two-and-a-half seasons, and I wish him all the best at Leicester.”

Again, great service for a freebie, especially as he raised a few eyebrows in the fanbase when he arrived.
