According to Calciomercato, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Hirving Lozano and could battle West Ham United and Everton for the 24-year-old’s signature. Lozano has struggled in his debut season at Napoli and could be on his way out this summer.

The €86.6k-per-week/€4.5m-a-year (£75k-per-week/£3.9m-a-year) forward has scored only three goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Napoli this season and has lost his starting place as a result. Lozano has fallen out of favour under Gennaro Gattuso and doesn’t appear to have a future at the Stadio San Paolo.

After contributing 63 goals in 79 games for PSV Eindhoven, Napoli paid €40m for the Mexican international last summer. With Lozano having four more years remaining on his deal, Napoli are in a strong negotiating position and could hold out for €40m or more.

Wolves have Daniel Podence, Adama Traore, Pedro Neto, Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez at their disposal but could benefit from another attacker. Nuno Espirito Santo may have to replace Traore over the summer should Liverpool, Barcelona or Manchester City make a move, and he also needs another striker to compete with Jimenez.

The Midlands outfit pulled out of a deal to sign Nelson Oliveira and stuck with Leandro Campana as their only cover for the 28-year-old. Wolves have been lucky that Jimenez has stayed fit all season but can’t go into 2020/21 without adding to the squad.

Lozano can operate on both flanks and as a centre-forward, so he would provide versatility in attack. Time will tell if Wolves make a move.
