According to The Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Gonzalo Higuain as a potential replacement for Raul Jimenez and may have to battle Newcastle United for his signature.
Higuain could be on his way out of Juventus this summer after struggling for form over the course of the season (five goals in 23 Serie A appearances) and breaching club regulations by visit a sick family member in Buenos Aires without permission.
The 32-year-old has one year remaining on his deal, but The Sun say his contract may be terminated early as he didn’t inform the club of his trip to Argentina.
Wolves are hoping to capitalise on the situation as Jimenez could be on his way out of Molineux. The 29-year-old has is coming off the back of a prolific season under Nuno Espirito Santo and has attracted interest from Manchester United and Juve.
The Sun say Higuain has his heart set on returning to the Premier League, so Wolves stand a chance of landing his signature. He’d be a decent replacement for Jimenez as he can hold up the ball and bring others into play, but he won’t come cheap.
The Argentine international has a market value of £22.95m while CIES value Higuain around €20m-€30m (£17.89m-£26.84m). The Sun also say Higuain is earning £5m-a-year/£96k-per-week at Juve, so Wolves know how much they’ll likely need to pay.
Need to go for someone younger
Just give Raul more money.
What a load of BS !!? Wolves aren’t in the business of buying 32 year olds with no upsides. I doubt they will be selling anyone despite the media beat ups…they will want to add to the quality they have. Top four side then.
