According to the Daily Record, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘interested’ in James Graham and may have to battle Leeds United for his signature.
Rangers have actually made the most progress in signing Graham as they’ve had a bid ‘accepted’, but the Daily Record say his future is still uncertain as he’s yet to agree personal terms.
Part of Wolves’ transfer policy sees them targeting young talent, as Nuno Espirito Santo has shown a willingness to give youngsters a chance in the first-team if they stand out. There’s a clear pathway for U18 and reserve-team players to make the step-up, so Graham would be right at home at Molineux.
In addition to the 16-year-old, Wolves have been linked with Joe Gelhardt (aged 18), so there’s a deliberate plan to bring in teenage strikers. Whether they can beat out Leeds and hijack Rangers’ deal remains to be seen, however.
Nuno has given 4231 minutes of first-team football to players under the age of 22, while naming 17 players no older than 21 in the matchday squad at least once this season, so Graham should be open to joining Wolves. They could be good for his development.
