According to Leicestershire Live, Leicester City will not sign Ryan Bennett permanently from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer. The 30-year-old joined Leicester on loan in January but failed to make an appearance and won’t be staying at the King Power Stadium as a result.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Before his move to City, Bennett made 19 appearances in all competitions for Wolves and wasn’t been a regular under Nuno Espirito Santo. The 30-year-old racked up only 604 minutes of Premier League football and spent the majority of the season out of the matchday squad (10) or as an unused substitute (11).

It’s no real surprise he left Wolves, but it was intriguing that Leicester came calling. A the time of Bennett’s arrival, the Foxes were third in the Premier League with 48 points from 24 games, four places and 14 points ahead of Wolves.

Bennett would struggle for games at Leicester and spent most of his time out of the matchday squad. The 30-year-old found himself behind Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans and Wes Morgan in the pecking order. Christian Fuchs even started at centre-back ahead of Bennett on occasion too.

Leicestershire Live say City will turn their attentions away from the Wolves defender and onto a new target to strengthen their defence. And while Nuno will be welcoming back another centre-back to compete with Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Max Kilman, Romain Saiss, Leander Dendoncker and perhaps Dion Sanderson for a starting place next season, Wolves are on the hunt for a new face too.

The Midlands outfit have been linked with Tosin Adarabioyo, Gabriel Magalhaes and Christian Luyindama among others while Vital Wolves have cited Ruben Dias, Gabriel Paulista, Nicolas Otamendi, Ruben Vezo and Ezequiel Garay as potential options.

It remains to be seen who they’ll bring in, however.
