Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo has been linked to Molineux over the past few days – and a West Brom journalist, who has seen the player after a year at the Hawthorns, has just had his say on the potential deal.

Alex Dicken from Birmingham Live was commenting on a story from March 7 by 90MiN which suggests that Wolves are part of a big contingency who want the centre back. He decided to ask one of the West Brom writers, Kieran Doody, for a bit more info on the player.

The report claims that the current Blackburn Rovers loanee is being wanted by Everton, Burnley, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Southampton and even Leeds United – so they certainly will face some decent competition if they want to sign him.

It is said that the 22-year-old is valued at a whopping £20m – not cheap for a defender who has never had a Premier League game behind his belt, and whose contract expires in 2021.

Doody, after seeing the player for a season on loan, said that he was pretty disappointed with the 6’5″ defender, which might explain why he could only get a move to Blackburn Rovers the season afterwards.

The reporter said he “often made mistakes”, but that he was also “often played out of position”.

Should Wolverhampton Wanderers sign Tosin Adarabioyo?

Yes

No

Nevertheless, there were some positives, with his height he is allegedly good in the air and comfortable with the ball at his feet, as you can probably expect from a Manchester City graduate.

Also, Doody reckons that he has the “perfect fit” for Wolves, and that his playing style would really compliment Nuno’s style.

Ultimately, though, when asked about the £20m fee, it was seen as “too steep” for a player of his quality.

Considering a journalist who has had a good season of the player doesn’t believe that the money justifies the player, then he is probably right. However, whether Manchester City will be able to hold out for that much money given he has only had two seasons of Championship football is another question.

This season he has 27 games behind his belt in the league, with two goals and an assist to his name.

Additionally, WhoScored believe he has been the second-best player for Rovers this season, with an average rating of 6.95 only being bettered by Lenihan.
