Ryan Bennett joined Leicester City on a season-long loan at the end of January and has the option to turn the move permanent over the summer, but the 29-year-old isn’t having the best start to life at the King Power Stadium as he’s yet to make an appearance.

He missed Leicester’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea (February 1) as he’d only joined the Foxes a day previously, missed their 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers (February 14) as he was ineligible due to the terms of his loan, and he missed the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City (February 22) as Brendan Rodgers preferred Christian Fuchs at centre-back and Wes Morgan on the bench.

Bennett didn’t make the matchday squad despite Leicester opting for three at the back on Saturday. He’s currently behind Fuchs, Morgan, Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu in the pecking order and has little chance of getting a look-in if Leicester revert to only two at centre-back.

Rodgers defended the decision, telling Leicestershire Live: “We had three centre-halves playing and we had Wes on the bench, so I didn’t need another one.”

That being said, it’s still early days for the 29-year-old. Leicester still have 11 Premier League games left this season, so Bennett should get an opportunity to impress before the campaign comes to a close.

Wrong move. Would still do a quality job at places like Bournemouth, Southampton, Brighton or a top Championship side.

Bennett’s got family problems back in Norwich and needed to be closer .
