Raul Jimenez admitted in an interview with ESPN Deportes that he could leave Wolverhampton Wanderers “if Real Madrid of Barcelona comes” this summer.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Molineux after his prolific campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, but Wolves have no desire to let him leave as they want to push for a top-four finish next season.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

He told ESPN: “If you tell me that tomorrow an offer from Real Madrid or Barcelona comes, it is obvious that you do not let such an opportunity go.”

Jimenez added: “But if I stay here, I am fighting to qualify for the Champions League, for important things. Fighting for the title still seems difficult but we are in the Europe League round-of-16.

“I think that I made the right decision to come here and I do not regret it. Leaving the doors open for anything is the most important thing.

“With Wolves we are fighting for the Champions League, I am happy and I am an important player for the fans and for the team. I am fine, I do not close any doors, I am open to whatever comes but it does not stop me sleeping.”

The Mexican international has left the door open to two clubs, but whether Wolves would let him go remains to be seen, as Jimenez has contributed 57 goals/assists in 88 games for the Midlands outfit.

That being said, he played down exit talk when Manchester United were being linked, so it’s interesting he’s admitted a love for Real and Barca so openly. Could Jimenez’s age be a factor? He’s currently at peak age for a footballer, so does he want to make the most of his stock being high?

But if the 28-year-old is open to joining a European giant like Barca and Real, would that also include Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich?

As per Transfermarkt, Jimenez has scored more Premier League goals than Marcus Rashford, Richarlison, Anthony Martial, Heung-min Son, Alexander Lacazette, Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus since 2018/19, so he’s bound to attract interest.
