Wolves might be in a position which far surpasses Arsenal at this current moment in time, but that hasn’t stopped the Gunners from being linked with their prize asset.

With Alexander Lacazette’s days at Arsenal potentially coming to an end, as per the Sun, Mikel Arteta’s side have now been tipped to sign Mexican striker Raul Jimenez.

The attacker, who has been linked to another regressing giant in Manchester United, has been on fire so far this campaign. Since joining permanently in the summer, the 28-year-old has been able to score 22 goals in 42 games in all competitions, as well as being able to chip in with 10 assists, as per Transfermarkt.

Things are going more than well for the player not just personally but for the team as well, especially in comparison to Arsenal. Wanderers are currently sixth in the table – just three points off fourth – while Arsenal are languishing down in 10th and have been knocked out of the Europa League.

Coincidentally, the side that Wolves will be facing in the final 16 of the European competition is Olympiacos – the side who knocked out the North London side.

Despite Wolves being better off in a footballing sense at this moment in time, former Chelsea player Craig Burley has said that Arsenal should do all they can in their power to try and sign the player.

Could you see Jimenez leaving before the start of next season?

Not a chance

Yes, but it's going to cost them

Yes, but it's going to cost them

He said: “What will Raul Jimenez give you? Experience, but still at a good age, runs the channels, physical in the air, works hard when he’s not got the ball and scores goals.

“Bear in mind they have Aubameyang and hopefully won’t lose him.

“But Lacazette’s frustrations are out there about not playing, he could go elsewhere.

“If you had Aubameyang on the left and a big physical presence through the middle, that would make sense to me.”

As the article suggests, Arsenal’s troubles begin to grow further if they do not qualify for the Champions League as it restricts them hugely financially.

And given that they don’t exactly look particularly likely to make that competition, that would suggest that there is a lot of rebuilding to do at Arsenal on a pretty tight budget. So, even if they could afford Jimenez, is that really a project he would want to endure on?

Obviously it’s a huge club – as 13 first division titles and 13 FA Cups tells you. Only time will tell whether they can reach a better stage than Wolves for next season, but on the face of things, it is hard to see why he would make a sideways move at his age.

History counts for nothing no club has got a right to be in the top six why would Jimenez want to take a backward step if he’s ambitious which he is going to be, at the moment Arsenal aren’t in the race so stop dreaming with stupid articles like this.
He would possibly be tempted by a top, top club but Arsenal???? Your avin a larf!!!!!!!

This is not the same as RAUL JIMENEZ BACKED TO REPLACE FORWARD AT HUGE CLUB!

Some of you journalists do not help your professional reputations by inventing a story out of virtually nothing.

Perhaps you should study Lucas Sposito to see what a proper journalist does?

Of course Arsenal are a big club, no doubt. What makes a club big? The fact that it’s not above Wolves doesn’t make them small.

I don’t deny Arsenal are a big club but if Jimenez wanted to go anywhere it would be to a huge club where he had a chance of silverware and that begs the question why Arsenal ? who you have to be honest haven’t actually pulled up any trees in that department over a number of years have they ?
