Conor Coady is expected to start at centre-back for Wolverhampton Wanderers in Monday’s Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace – his 37th league game of the season. The 27-year-old has so far played every minute of every game in the top-flight and is only two away from a perfect record to match last season.

Coady signed a four-year deal with Wolves back in February 2019 and hasn’t missed a single minute of Premier League football under Nuno Espirito Santo, so his future at Molineux isn’t in doubt. The £50k-per-week central defender made 38 appearances and amassed a maximum 3420 minutes last season, so he’ll be making history if he can repeat the feat this campaign.

Coady joined Wolves from Huddersfield Town for £2.5m in 2015 and has gone on to make a total of 231 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals with seven assists. He’s been at the heart of a backline that has conceded 84 goals in 74 Premier League games over two seasons and has been dribbled past (0.4 times per 90 minutes) less than Willy Boly (0.9) and Romain Saiss (0.5) this campaign.

Wolves are on the hunt for another centre-back and have been linked with Kristoffer Ajer, Gabriel Magalhaes, Christian Luyindama, Ousseynou Ba, Tosin Adarabioyo, Ruben Dias, Diego Llorente, Nicolas N’Koulou, Robin Koch, but Coady’s progression to a £13m-rated club-captain shouldn’t go unnoticed.
