According to the Sunday Mirror, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Max Aarons and may have to battle Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur among other clubs to procure his signature. It remains to be seen whether the Old Gold will push to sign him, however, as they have Matt Doherty, Oskar Buur, Luke Matheson and Jonny Otto at their disposal.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Aarons rose through the youth ranks to Norwich’s first-team in 2018 and has gone on to make 81 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals with eight assists. This season, he’s featured 39 times across the board, 35 of which came in the Premier League.

As per WhoScored, Aarons has created 23 chances, completed 78.9% of his 1324 passes, has whipped in 73 crosses with 22% accuracy and has made 47 successful dribbles, which is more (1.3 per game) than Doherty (0.8) and Jonny (0.9), so he could be a good addition to the Wolves squad.

The 20-year-old has a £20m asking price and The Sun say he likely earns between £25k-per-week/£1.3m-a-year and £30k-per-week/£1.56m-a-year, so he is affordable. Aarons just isn’t necessary for Wolves.

Doherty barely misses a competitive game (46 appearances this season), has three years remaining on his deal and has Buur, Matheson and Adama Traore who can provide cover, so do the Old Gold really need another player in that position?
