Bright Enobakhare is close to completing a move to AEK Athens after his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but the 22-year-old’s agent told ORA (h/t Sdna.gr) that they’re “still waiting on paperwork from Wolves” before a deal will be finalised.

The representative said, in quotes reported by Sport Witness: “Everything is going very well, we are waiting for paperwork from Wolves so that everything is settled and we can sign a contract for three years with AEK.

“Bright is excited to play for a big team like AEK. He is fully informed about the history of the club and he’s looking very keen to kickstart his career.” Bright was released by Wolves in May, ending five years at Molineux.

The Nigerian striker made 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and making one assist. Bright struggled for playing time in his final two years at Wolves, resulting in loan moves away to Kilmarnock (August 31, 2018 – January 6, 2019), Coventry City (January 8, 2019 – May 31, 2019) and Wigan Athletic (August 8, 2019 – January 2, 2020) so he’s looking forward to starting afresh in Greece.

AEK are currently second in the Super League Championships with four points from two games, having drawn 1-1 against Panathinaikos (June 7) and beating OFI Crete 2-0 (June 14). When Bright arrives at Athens’ Olympic Stadium, he’ll have Nelson Oliveira, Viktor Klonaridis, Marko Livaja and Sergio Araujo for competition, so he needs to hit the ground running.
