Wolverhampton Wanderers almost staged a memorable late comeback in Saturday evening’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur at the Molineux.

Welcoming Mauricio Pochettino’s side to our home soil for the game, Wolves were two goals behind in the opening 30 minutes and Spurs hit a third just after the hour mark and it looked like it would be one of those days. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side dug in though and two late penalties from Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez gave the home crowd plenty to shout about and with a wrongly disallowed goal, few would’ve argued had we taken a point from the game.

It is three defeats on the spin but there were plenty of positives to take.

Jimenez stood out again and WhoScored gave their star man rating to the 27-year-old with a score of 8.75.

Matt Doherty, Morgan Gibbs-White, Jonny and Neves completed the top five performers on the day from a statistics point of view.
