With Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo seeing his stock rise even further as he helped guide the club to the Championship title in the campaign of 2017/18, before then – to date – seeing us comfortably rise to seventh place in the Premier League table, as well as a run to at least the FA Cup semi-finals, it’s no surprise to see tentative speculation linking him with manager jobs elsewhere.

The Mirror were one of a number of outlets to link him with Chelsea and Stamford Bridge given Maurizio Sarri’s ongoing struggles last week, and I don’t believe I actually bothered to cover it as it felt like redtop nonsense to me.

I use the phrase nonsense not because I don’t think Nuno wouldn’t have a good shot at success there or that the job would be too big for him, but given their imbalanced squad which requires a rebuild, and the legwork already put in at Wolves, I don’t see why he’d make the move as they aren’t title challengers and arguably, unless we have a major wobble and fail to build on this year, I wouldn’t put it past us to be up there battling properly for the top 6 spots.

I’m only addressing it now because I’m in complete agreement with the legend that is Steve Bull, who was quoted by the Mirror also.

“If I was him, I wouldn’t leave. I wouldn’t be silly enough to even think about it. Wolves are a very big club and they are going places. Anybody above in the top five or four aren’t necessarily bigger than Wolves. Why? Because Wolves are going to be there one day. Nuno may as well build a legacy. He has the fans behind him and is doing it in all the right ways.”
