Earlier today it was being reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers had accepted an offer from Championship side Leeds United for wing back Barry Douglas.
The E&S were one of many to report that following the speculation earlier in the day, a deal had in fact now been done for the 28-year-old.
Having joined the club this time last summer, Douglas went on to play a key role for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as we stormed to the Championship title and promotion back to the Premier League as he made 42 appearances across the season, chipping in with five goals and an incredible 14 assists.
With the Scottish international likely to be on his way now, it does strengthen speculation linking us with Spanish wing back Jonny Castro, in particular.
Fans are rightly disappointed with the news given he quickly became a fan favourite at the Molineux, we just have to trust his replacement is an improvement and works out or we may end up regretting this one.
It'll be a shame to see Douglas leave #Wolves after such a superb season, however, clearly his position is going to be a stacked department. He deserved a crack at #PremierLeague BUT there shouldn't be room for sentimentality as part of the 'project.' That cost #wwfc last time.

Although I would’ve loved to have seen Douglas be given a chance in the prem #wwfc

Fellow Wolves fans, Douglas is just the first. There may be at least 2 other big names from the squad on the way out.
Fosun trust Jorge to help, Nuno will work and mould whatever comes his way.
It's a high turnover strategy, always is with Jorge#wwfc #barrydouglas

My thoughts regarding Douglas is that if the main things we miss from him are his set pieces, albeit how consistent the delivery is, it shows his weakness defensively which Nuno would want to address #wwfc

Sad to see Douglas leave. Thought he might be worth keeping for set piece delivery. But £5m is great business. #wwfc

A surprising potential departure in Barry Douglas.
A fantastic addition to the side last season. In the midst of the ‘Mendes signings’ he was a true find with a great pedigree unknown the many.
In this transformation of #wolves, we’re going to lose some favourites. #wwfc

Sad news if Barry Douglas does leave. Great lad, had a fantastic season for us last year. But fans can't have it all ways. You can't slate Mick McCarthy for not being ruthless enough when the club stepped up to the PL, then slate Nuno for doing exactly that now… #wwfc

I like Douglas, fantastic left peg and a decent player. But where we are going he is not good enough if im being brutally honest. We moaned for years about being to nice and keeping players for sentiment. Got to be ruthless to reach the top end of the table. #wwfc
