Wolves are set to hand a new contract to club captain Conor Coady, a report from The Daily Mail has claimed.

Coady has made 238 appearances in all competitions for the club since joining from Huddersfield in 2015, and has been an ever-present in the Premier League since the club’s return to the top-flight two season’s ago.

There are still three years remaining on the defender’s current £50,000-a-week contract at Molineux, but it still seems as though Wolves are making moves to secure his future beyond the end of that deal.

According to the latest reports, Wolves are working on a new contract for the recently capped England international, as a reward for his contribution and importance to the club’s progress in recent seasons.

It is thought that this new deal will bring Coady up alongside the likes of Raul Jimenez, Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho as one of the club’s top earners.

Amidst all the business being done in terms of signings by Wolves this summer, it is good to see that they are not forgetting those who have done so much for the club over recent years, such as Coady.

Arguably none have done as much as the current club captain, so you feel that a deal such as this to recognise that is well deserved for the 27-year-old.

Indeed, at that age, Coady is still at the peak of his career, so there should be little concern about an extended deal taking him past a point where he can be an asset to this side, meaning this looks to be a sensible piece of business all round from Wolves.
