With Wolverhampton Wanderers’ growth in recent season following the takeover by Fosun and the appointment of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo and the success he’s had in leading us through the Championship title and into the top half of the Premier League in our first season back, fans have already adjusted to more exciting transfer links given the quality of our recent captures.

A number of names on the rumour mill sound more pie in the sky even given our fresh lofty ambitions, and fans have become accustomed to simply having our name slapped alongside the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal when names appear – usually without substance.

One rumour that may have some substance though are reports linking us with Lille striker Nicholas Pepe.

The 23-year-old has been in great form in Ligue 1 this season and it’s not the first time he’s been linked with a potential move to the Molineux. The versatile Ivorian international has scored 20 goals for Lille so far in the 2018/19 campaign and he’s contributed eleven assists on top and Telefoot (via the Manchester Evening News have Lille president Gerard Lopez admitting they won’t stand in his way next summer when it comes to a big money move.

“Four or five players will be leaving this summer. The departure of Nicolas Pepe is certain. He enters a price range that can not be refused anymore. He will have the choice.”

We’ll have to see if our reported interest in him is real or not.
