It must be that time of the week again as Wolverhampton Wanderers are again being linked with Benfica wonderkid Joao Felix.

The 19-year-old has become a regular on the Wolves rumour mill and it continues to be a typical story with absolutely no real grounding to justify the speculation.

The Mirror reported back in February that head coach Nuno Espirito Santo was very keen on the lad and they claimed that we were now in pole position to secure his capture ahead of Liverpool.

Predictably though it leant heavily on Jorge Mendes given his involvement with us and obvious ties to Portuguese talents.

Italian press (gianlucadimarzio) amongst others, have him also linked with Juventus and no doubt there are more clubs suggested to increase the span of these rumours.

The latest development, if you can call it that is simply that with a reported release clause of 120million Euros, Benfica want to increase it to 200million Euros ahead of anticipated summer interest in the player.

That seems to be the sole reason for the story reappearing on the rumour mill this week, as various sites simply debate the plausibility of the fees involved and whether even with Premier League riches, we’d be prepared to go that high on a single player.

I remain sceptical, but one thing is for sure, this rumour can be expected to return next month when the rumour outlets look again for easy content irrespective of whether there’s anything new to actually report.
