Report: Wolves ‘present proposal’ for 24 y/o, midfielder ‘on his way’ to the Premier League

According to A Bola, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘preparing to present a proposal (… ) around €15m’ for João Palhinha this summer.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Sporting CP after falling down the pecking order and Wolves are cited as the only interested suitor.

A Bola say Palhinha is ‘on his way’ to the Premier League following an agreement on principle between Wolves and the Portuguese outfit.

Palhinha arrived at the Estádio José Alvalade from Sacavenense in 2013 and has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Sporting. The Portuguese midfielder has spent the last two seasons on loan at SC Braga and no longer has a future with the Leões.

Palhinha has made 67 appearances for Braga, scoring six goals and making three assists, but it remains to be seen if he’d feature regular at Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo has Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Romain Saiss, Leander Dendoncker, Bruno Jordao and Morgan Gibbs-White, so there’s stiff competition for places in midfield.

The 24-year-old won’t break the bank at €15m and should be open to a move to Wolves as there are numerous Portuguese players in the squad to make him feel at home –  Rui Patricio, Ruben Vinagre, Neves, Moutinho, Jordao, Diogo Jota, Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto.
