According to The Athletic, Jordan Graham ‘clashing with Nuno’ Espirito Santo led to him falling down the pecking order at Wolverhampton Wanderers and being loaned out while still under contract.

The 25-year-old has since been released by Wolves as he’s been on the periphery for nearly four years, but things started going wrong for Graham when Nuno suggested a position change.

Graham told The Athletic’s weekly Wolves podcast The Molineux View: “Nuno came in and it was a case of he wanted me to play as a wing-back and I didn’t necessarily agree. I said (to Nuno) if that’s the case I’ll look elsewhere because I do want to play as a forward player.”

He joined Wolves from Aston Villa in January 2015 and went on to make 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and making eight assists. The 25-year-old made 12 of those appearances came in 2015/16, two appearances came in 2016/17 and three appearances in 2017/18 – the season that Wolves were promoted to the Premier League.

The Midlands outfit have loaned Graham out to Fulham (August 31, 2017 – January 15, 2018) of the Championship, Ipswich Town (August 28, 2018 – December 31, 2018) of League One, Oxford United (January 2, 2019 – May 31, 2019) of League One and Gillingham (January 31, 2020 – May 31, 2020) of League One, so he’s clearly operating below the levels required to play under Nuno.

Graham was unfortunate to fall out of favour at the same time of Wolves’ rise to the top-flight, but he says he’s at peace with the decision.
