Report: Wolves ‘interested in signing’ 21 y/o, ‘scouts’ had been ‘watching him’

According to the Daily Star via HITC, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘interested in signing’ Edon Zhegrova and may have to battle Chelsea to procure his signature.

Wolves ‘scouts’ are said to have been ‘watching him’ before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it remains to be seen if they’ll make a move.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Zhegrova is currently on a season-long loan at FC Basel from KRC Genk, having made the switch in February 2019. The 21-year-old has made 27 appearances in all competition for Basel, scoring two goals and making four assists, and his performances have been good enough to attract Premier League interest.

Wolves already have Daniel Podence, Diogo Jota, Pedro Neto and Adama Traore who can operate in wide areas, but Zhegrova shouldn’t be put off by the competition.

Nuno Espirito Santo signed two teenagers in the last transfer window – Leonardo Campana (19), Enzo Loidice (19) – and has given 269 minutes of first-team football to Chem Campbell (17), Terry Tally (18), Taylor Perry (18), Luke Cundle (18), Owen Otasowie (19) this season.

Zhegrova would be in good hands if he joined Wolves and has a lot of talented mentors to potentially learn from, but Chelsea’s interest may prove a stumbling block. Time will tell.
