Wolves are close to agreeing a deal with Barcelona for the signing of right-back Nelson Semedo, a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has claimed.

It has previously been reported that Semedo has emerged as an option for Wolves in the summer transfer market, as they search for a replacement for Matt Doherty following his move to Tottenham earlier in the window, and it now seems as though the Midlands club are close to getting their man.

According to the latest reports, Wolves are now in the final stages of finalising the transfer, meaning it seems as though an announcement may not be far away.

It is thought that Wolves will pay Barcelona a fee of €32m-€35million upfront for the Portuguese international, with the possibility for that fee to rise to €40million depending on add-ons.

Semedo also looks to have agreed personal terms with Wolves, with the defender said to be ready to sign a five-year contract – which will keep him at Molineux until the summer of 2025 – once the two clubs have put the seal on the final few terms of the deal.

This certainly feels like exciting news for Wolves, considering the boost the signing of a player with the profile of Semedo should give them following the exit of Doherty.

It is also encouraging to see the backing the board have shown to Nuno with the amount they are willing to spend on Semedo, particularly given the current situation in football, and it will be interesting to see just how much of an impact the 26-year-old has during his time at Molineux.
