With the long running speculation suggesting that Wolverhampton Wanderers would, rightly, attempt to get striker Raul Jimenez tied up to a long term permanent contract, that news came true for Wolves fans earlier this week as the 27-year-old put pen to paper on a four year deal.

Having agreed a reported £30million fee with Benfica for his services, he becomes our latest record signing as the Wolves revolution continues with pace.

Having stormed the Championship to lift the title in the 2017/18 campaign and promotion to the top flight, our maiden season back in the Premier League has gone very well indeed and we sit comfortably in the top half of the table with optimistic fans seeing the Europa League as a real possibility – not least factoring in our extended run in the FA Cup.

With the ink now dry on Jimenez’ deal, Sky Sports have him talking about the potential European adventure, and he’s clearly relishing the prospect.

“This is our first time in the Premier League for a while, we are doing well, so why not think about aiming for the Champions League or the top six. We have very good players, a good team that can compete. We have to think about the best things we can. If we qualify for the Europa League that would be amazing. I have never played in that tournament. It was an extra since I arrived here. I’ve seen the team is growing. The chairman, too, is doing good things. Now we are seventh. For a promoted team that’s very good.”

We’ll soon know if a good season gets in even better as there isn’t long left of the campaign.
