Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Wednesday evening and Willy Boly was one of many players who came in for criticism for his performance. The 29-year-old played a short backpass to Rui Patricio that nearly resulted in a goal for United and he was beaten in the air by John Egan who headed home late in the game. Boly hasn’t been at his best in the last two games and fans let him know.
#wwfc – Boly is useless today.

Traore holds onto the ball for far too long and is dispossessed and then Sharp skips past Boly. Those two not been at their best for Wolves so far. Traore seems a bit unsure after early shoulder scare. #wwfc

Can the aliens that have taken over Jota, Boly, and Jiminez's body please vacate them and give us our players back? #wwfc #WOLSٍHU

Defended it on Saturday, can’t defend much of that tonight. Poor sub from Nuno, should have been Podence for Traore and Vinagre for Jonny. Doherty and Boly both well below par. CL definitely gone now and we’ve created a real fight to secure Europa League again. #wwfc

Against Sheff Utd, the centre-back played for 90 minutes, had 87 touches, won three aerial duels, completed 87.7% of his 73 passes, attempted seven long balls with 43% accuracy, made two tackles, gave away two fouls, made two interceptions, had one dribble and made five clearances.
Boly joined Wolves from FC Porto for £10.8m in 2018 and has gone on to make 107 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals with three assists. The Frenchman has been a regular when fit this season, featuring in 29 games across the board, but he’s been fallible of late.
Wolves are sixth in the Premier League with 52 points from 34 games, having lost back-to-back matches to Arsenal and Sheff Utd without scoring. They next face Everton on Sunday.
