Official: Wolves confirm new deal for young forward

|

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that Dongda He has signed a new deal until 2023. The 18-year-old joined the Midlands outfit from Notts County last summer and has gone on to make seven appearances for the U18s and six appearances for the U23s, as per Transfermarkt. He’s progressed to the reserves and looks to have a bright future at Molineux.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Dongda He said to Wolves’ official website: He said: “It was a proud and happy moment for me and my family, hearing a few weeks ago that Wolves were going to offer me a new contract – we’re all very happy and excited.

“Coming from a League Two club to the Premier League, there’s a lot of changes, things I’ve had to adapt to, but when I first joined Wolves everyone made me feel very welcome – it’s a big family, like a wolfpack.

“It shows hard work pays off. Now, my main focus is working hard daily in training. Of course, now, it’s hard with the coronavirus, but I’m keeping fit and I can’t wait to get back to training.

“Right now, I’m just working hard, staying focused to get a place in the under-23s squad, so I can start hopefully this season, or even next season. Of course, the main goal is to make my debut for Wolves – that would be a proud moment for me and my family.”

Wolves have been over-reliant on Raul Jimenez in attack, but Nuno Espirito Santo now has a lot of young strikers waiting in the wings who may be able to take the scoring burden off the 28-year-old next season.

The club signed Leonardo Campana from Barcelona SC Guayaquil in January and had Renat Dadashov returning from a loan spell at Pacos Ferreira, but He could be another option.

The Midlands outfit are on the hunt for a more experienced centre-forward who could make an instant impact next season – AEK Athens’ Nelson Oliveira Red Bull Salzburg’s Hwang Hee-chan – but opportunities have also been given to many teenagers.

Luke Cundle (aged 17), Chem Campbell (17), Terry Taylor (18), Taylor Perry (18) and Owen Otasowie (18) have featured under Nuno this season, while James Graham (15) and Joe Gelhardt (17) are transfer targets.
