A few Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been reacting on social media after Talking Wolves noted that the West Midlands outfit currently boast a Premier League record.

Wolves have been flying high in the Premier League this season as they strive to challenge for the final Champions League place, which now appears out of stretch with Leicester needing to suffer a cataclysmic collapse given their vastly superior goal difference.

The Molineux natives boast a goal difference of just plus-eleven to the Foxes’ plus-31 after 36 games, having struck home 49 times to the 38 Espirito Santo’s side have conceded heading into the penultimate round of fixtures.

Each of the goals Wolves have scored in the top-flight this term have come from players born outside of England, too, with players from Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Ireland, Italy and Morocco responsible for the efforts struck.

If the Premier League table only took into account goals scored from players born abroad, Wolves would sit comfortably inside the top-four with only Liverpool and Manchester City above them, whereas the Molineux outfit would be bottom of the table based on goals scored by domestic players.

This is not a recent trend for the West Midlands outfit, either, as Talking Wolves have noted that the club hold the Premier League record for the lowest percentage of goals scored by Englishman at a staggeringly low 18.9% when penalties are not included.

Fans have reacted to this stat in various ways, with some claiming it shows Espirito Santo’s wise thinking while others suggest it is not something to be bragging about.

Others have also shared that the stat is irrelevant, as the only thing that matters is whether or not the players are good enough, which has clearly been the case for Wolves this term.

Some, meanwhile, have found the stat to be rather stating the obvious given the squad Espirito Santo has put together, with Morgan Gibbs-White the only Englishman who is not a defender.
