Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that Adama Traore is still struggling with pain after dislocating his shoulder for a third time this season. The Wolverhampton Wanderers manager told the official club website: “Adama is ok. He’s in a situation that he has to handle, it’s very painful – we all know that – but he’s handled it quite well.”

As per WhoScored, Traore has made 43 appearances in all competition this season, scoring and creating 16 goals. He’s made 38 chances, completed 73.6% of his 568 passes, won 34 aerial duels (44%), made 145 successful dribbles (74%), whipped in 144 crosses with 21% accuracy, averaged a tackle (32) or interception (12) every 47 minutes and had 34 shots with 26% on target.

He’s enjoyed his most prolific campaign but has played through pain and endured a recurring injury. Wolves wanted to fix the shoulder problem without Traore undergoing surgery, likely by giving him painkillers, strengthening the muscle group or using a polysling outside of exercise, but it remains to be seen what course of action they’ll take.

The Premier League season has been postponed until early-April, so Traore will have extra time to heal before being called into action. Should the 24-year-old go under the knife, however, he may be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Traore risks dislocation by continuing to play, as opponents may target his shoulder in games, so Wolves must ensure they’re not recklessly putting him in harm’s way.
