Wolverhampton Wanderers beat West Ham United 2-0 on Saturday and Matt Doherty was one of many players hailed on social media for his performance at the London Stadium.
The 28-year-old was threatening going forward, stifled Felipe Andersen enough for him to be substituted and capped an impressive showing with a brilliant assist for Wolves’ second goal.
Following fine work in the middle from Adama Traore, Doherty was freed on the right flank and chipped a cross to the back post for Pedro Neto to volley home.
Matt Doherty is Ireland’s best player by a long way.

It's crazy to think Matt Doherty is the best Irish player in the premier league at the moment and played 2nd fiddle to Seamus Coleman for Ireland 😂😂😂

Matt Doherty at @Wolves has to be one of the best full backs in the @premierleague right now. Hopefully he can bring that sort of form into the @FAIreland into the opening games of the Stephen Kenny era in the Autumn

Matt Doherty superb again tonight, player has to be a central figure in Stephen Kenny's side going forward. Attacking width and support in the final third, defensively solid for @Wolves who look more and more like a Champions League team for next season with each viewing.

Against West Ham, Doherty played a full 90 minutes, had 60 touches, won four aerial duels, completed 84.6% of his passes, created two chances, whipped in two crosses with 50% accuracy, made one tackle and had three dribbles.
Doherty has made 40 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals and making four assists. The 28-year-old has found himself behind Seamus Coleman for the Republic of Ireland, making only nine assists, but he’s staked his claim for more playing time.
Next up for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are Premier League strugglers Bournemouth, who are coming off the back of four defeats and a draw from their last five. Wolves boast three wins and a draw from their last four and were sixth in the table on Saturday, level on points with fifth-placed Manchester United.
