Loans, groans and appointments

With the nation bereft of first hand interest in the Euro’s this year, activities on the transfer front are set to be of an unusually high interest this summer.

And with several thousand column inches to fill, the press are going to ensure htat we all find out about them.

Even the ones that don’t happen.

I’ll skip over Michael Kightly in much the same way he skips round defenders, but to anyone even slightly entertaining the idea of cashing out, I’ll say two words.

Marlon King.

A more plausible tale of Molineux exits would be the temporary loss of Matt Murray on loan.

With Wayne Hennessey looking sharper by the month, a season on the bench stares Murray in the face and he is facing up to the reality that a loan move may be his best chance to get regular first team action.

“I`m just going to have to bide my time,” he told the Birmingham Post.

“I may have to go out on loan, I don`t know, who knows what will happen with Wayne.

“I`m just going to challenge him 100 per cent, working hard and doing everything I can do.’

Elsewhere, Mick McCarthy looks to be heading north of the border to help strengthen his back 4, Hearts Christophe Berra looking the most likely target.

The players agent Gary Mackay is said to be seeking talks with Hearts regarding the players future, with Wolves already having had a £1.5m bid rejected.

Kyle Lafferty continues to do the Championships best John Inman impression, although you’re not free though are you Kyle? Which is one of the four million problems surrounding your signing.

Happier news comes in the form of emerging International star Darren Potter’s decision to stick it out at Molineux and fight for his place from the transfer list.

Great attitude not usually found amongst todays proffessionals.

Ferrie Bodde has emerged as another talked about target, although whether this is based solely on the fact the dutchman wants out of Swansea or not is open to conjecture.

Derby seem to head the pack chasing his signature, with Wolves thrown in as another name in the pack of sides known to be looking to strengthen, with a wallet to match their ambition.

Although there is no doubting he would bring some bite to the Wolves midfield, Swansea will be reluctant to release one of their stars for anything less than top dollar, and his asking price of £2m plus may be a little rich for Mick McCarthy.

Upstairs, Paul Lakin has joined Wolves from Hull Kingston Rovers as Head of Commercial Affairs, inheriting part of Stuart Cain’s job, and not replacing Jez Moxey as some had hoped.

After a highly succesful stint at Hull, Wanderers tempted the sought after exec with a Corleone style offer.

“The opportunity to join a club with the stature of Wolves was too good to refuse. It is a club with major ambition and outstanding Premiership facilities. I am excited by the opportunity they have given me.” he told the E&S.
