Will Norris has finally been dropped at Ipswich Town due to his form spiralling of late. The 26-year-old was at risk of losing his place under Paul Lambert as he couldn’t stop making costly errors in goal. He was benched for Tomas Holy in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland and may struggle to get his spot back.

Norris’ last appearance for Ipswich came in their 4-1 defeat to Peterborough United (February 1) and saw him concede a cheap goal after being tackled by Sam Szmodics who finished into an empty net. He was shaky throughout the encounter too, so Lambert decided enough is enough.

Norris was playing second-fiddle to Holy at the start of the season but replaced the 28-year-old after his form fell off a cliff. Now he’s getting the same treatment from Lambert after making 19 appearances, conceding 24 goals and keeping only five clean sheets.

Whether Norris will return between the sticks before the season comes to a close remains to be seen. His chances of featuring again may depend on Holy’s form.

Nevertheless, Wolves won’t be impressed with how his loan spell has gone at Portman Road and may not extend his deal past 2021 as a result.
