Espanyol went ahead through Jonathan Calleri after a quarter of an hour but Wolves equalised minutes later through Adama Traore. Podence picked up the ball out wide, dribbled down the right flank and then cut inside to square the ball for Traore.
Espanyol took the lead again through Calleri in the 57th minute, but Wolves once again pegged them back. In the 79th minute, Podence was freed down the left flank and crossed for Matt Doherty to finish from close range.
Wolves ended up losing the game, but the 24-year-old’s performance was one positive.
Man of the match is for sure Podence. Two assists and some really useful movement and runs. With him, Jota, Raul, Traore and Neto, we have some real options going forward. #wwfc

The main positive, of course, being Podence and he certainly looks capable of contributing at any level we would be operating at. Would be interesting to see him up alongside Jimenez and Traore/Jota #WWFC

Podence was the only bright spark tonight but Nuno could afford to make changes and it paid off. 👍🏼 #WWFC
