Earlier this evening, Wolverhampton Wanderers welcomed Arsenal to the Molineux for our midweek Premier League clash.

Whilst Arsenal continue looking to challenge the top four places in the division, a good year under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has us vying with the next pack of clubs as we look to try and secure a fantastic seventh spot in our first year back in the top flight, and that’s a challenge that is in our hands, especially if we can take three points from this one.

It was an incredibly tight first half in some ways as Arsenal dominated the ball yet we created more efforts on and off target, and Ruben Neves, Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota took full advantage of their chances to establish a comfortable 3-0 lead at the halftime break.

Second period was much the same, but by the hour mark Arsenal had yet to get an effort on target.

When they finally did they scored, but seventh place is ours by the narrowest of margins after a 3-1 win.

Speaking to the BBC following the fulltime whistle, Nuno said of the game.

“It was very good, especially in the first half, but we conceded too much possession in the second. Arsenal have quality, they move the ball and keep it well and it’s hard to recover it. But until we conceded the goal we did not concede many chances. It was very good in the first half, very compact.”
