Wolves must progress

After the great escape last Sunday, which I believe most Wolves fans are only just recovering from, we have been given a chance to progress.

I think we are quite lucky to still be in the league. You shouldn’t take anything from the fightback the boys produced but I can’t help thinking how fortunate we are to still be in this league.

We have played some great football, produced some great results but if we are to progress and move further up the table we have to start getting better results against the teams in and around us.

We are good at being the underdogs, sometimes playing our way to victory and other times grinding out a result but we must learn how to win games when we are the side in control.

How do we do this?

Well, I think three or four signings plus O’Hara could do the trick.

It looks like Mick is determined to make four-four-two work in this league, and he may have found a winning formula. A fit Stephen Hunt seems perfect and with a midfield full of battlers we look less vulnerable.

But we still look lacking in some areas.

Two, maybe three defenders, is a must for me. We have longed for a genuine left back who plays consistently well. Big George Elokobi has his moments, but it’s not enough. In some games he is a joke and we can’t have that. Mick was after Konchesky in January, could he go for him again?

We need a real presence and leader in the middle at the back. Someone like Ryan Nelson at Blackburn, but younger. Could Roger Johnson be the answer?

Finally, in a four-four-two I think we need another centre midfielder next to Jamie O’Hara. Karl Henry has always been a firm favourite of mine however he is simply not good enough on the ball in a four man midfield. I think Craig Gardner, who we have also previously gone for, could be perfect for that role.

The three players I have mentioned could mean a team like this:

Hennessey

Foley

Johnson

Stearman

Konchesky

Jarvis

Gardner

O’Hara

Hunt

Doyle

Fletcher

How do you think we can improve, and progress up the table?
