According to 90min, Wolverhampton Wanderers have tied Adama Traore down to a new deal on double his wages.

The 24-year-old has been outstanding under Nuno Espirito Santo and Sport say he’s attracted interest from Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona among others as a result.

Traore clearly has no plans to leave us, however, as he’s put pen to paper on a contract extension.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

What are the details of his deal?

Traore’s previous deal was worth £2.2m-a-year/£43k-per-week, but 90min say he’s more than doubled his wages to £100k-per-week/£5.2m-a-year. The Spanish international has signed a four-year deal with Wolves, extending his existing deal by 12 months, so there’s no way he’ll be leaving.

Wolves are yet to make an official announcement, but they should confirm the good news very soon. Traore is the third first-team player to sign a new deal this month, following in the footsteps of Raul Jimenez (four-year deal on October 3) and Max Kilman (five-year deal on October 21). Conor Coady signed a five-year deal and Nuno Espirito Santo signed a three-year deal at the end of September too.

John Ruddy and Romain Saiss are the only first-team players with less than a year remaining on their respective contracts, so the club deserve a lot of credit for securing our most valuable assets on long-term deals.

What does the future hold?

Regardless of what happens, we’ve protected ourselves with Traore. The 24-year-old has made 96 appearances in all competitions since joining from Middlesbrough in 2018, scoring seven goals with 15 assists.

Traore is coming off the back of scoring four goals and making nine assists in 37 Premier League games last season which put him on the radar of many European giants, but Wolves have made a big statement of intent.

Summary

There was a lot of talk of Nuno, Traore and Jimenez potentially leaving this summer, but Wolves have managed to fend off interest and get the trio to commit their futures here. It’s a big victory and fans should be confident that we’re still going in the right direction. Exciting times at Molineux.
