20-year-old Ruben Vinagre was back on first team duties for Wolverhampton Wanderers in last weekend’s draw with Brighton and Hove Albion and the young lad again impressed plenty with his efforts as a late substitute.

With the game only returning a point, it did bring our small losing streak to an end and for Vinagre, it was his 19th appearance of the campaign (ninth substitute showing).

With some speculation on the rumour mill about his future and tentative links to Barcelona and Liverpool as having an interest in him, skipper Conor Coady was quoted by the E&S this week talking up the lad’s talent and the hopes that everyone has for his future.

“He’s a fantastic footballer, he’s such a young player and yet he’s got such a bright future ahead of him. Everybody probably thinks the best place for him is here so hopefully that is the case because he’s a fantastic footballer and he can stay here for many years. We like him. As long as he stays here for as many years as possible, we don’t really look at things like transfer speculation. We know we can rely on him at any time, but that’s the same for anyone coming on.”

Coady went on to say that he was another good option for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo when it came to the bench and being someone who can help change the momentum of a game, but I don’t think fans should be reading much into the speculation as his contract runs until 2023.
