According to Soccerlink, Tottenham have made Raul Jimenez a ‘target’ this summer to ‘become an understudy’ to Harry Kane. Spurs were without the 26-year-old and Heung-min Son in February and March, so they need another striker to shoulder the scoring burden.

Jimenez has been in fantastic form for Wolverhampton Wanderers and seems keen to stay at Molineux, but Soccerlink believe Jorge Mendes could play a ‘key role’ in 28-year-old’s transfer, as his Gestifute company represents Spurs manager Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

Jimenez initially joined Wolves on loan from Benfica in 2018 and turned the move permanent in 2019. He’s gone on to make 88 appearances in all competitions, scoring 39 goals and making 18 assists. This season, he’s had a hand in 32 goals in 44 games across the board.

The Mexican international has been a key player under Nuno, so it’s hard to see him being sold. Part of Wolves’ strategy for success is to keep their best assets at the club, and Jimenez has openly committed his future to the Midlands outfit when quizzed.

He has three years remaining on his deal at Molineux and would likely cost a tidy sum, so Tottenham may have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
