Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to ‘auction’ Rafa Mir in the summer transfer window following his productive loan spell with SD Huesca, according to AS via Sport Witness.

Mir joined SD Huesca on an 18-month loan deal in January having seen his time with Nottingham Forest cut short after struggling to establish himself at the City Ground, with the 23-year-old making 11 sporadic appearances in the Championship.

Minutes have been vastly more forthcoming in Spain with Mir making 18 La Liga 2 outings from a possible 20, with his only absences coming in the first matchday following his loan move and February’s meeting with UD Almeria through suspension.

Goals have also been forthcoming for the Spanish forward in his home country with Mir firing home nine times including seven since the restart, enough to help Huesca clinch the second-tier title and secure their promotion back into the top-flight following relegation in the 2018/19 campaign.

Mir’s efforts for Huesca are now expected to be capitalised on back in the West Midlands, where Wolves chiefs are considering selling the former U21 international after he emerged as a potential target for ‘many suitors’.

Huesca are believed to be doing everything possible for Mir to remain at the Estadio El Alcoraz for at least one more season and see out the full 18-months of his loan deal, which includes an option for Oscenses to purchase the striker next summer.

Should Nuno give Rafa Mir a chance at Molineux?

Wolves looking to cash-in on Mir’s productive loan spell should not be seen to be surprising at Molineux given the forward’s earlier struggles with Nottingham Forest, while still awaiting his first Premier League appearance under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Espirito Santo has only given Mir minutes in the Championship and FA Cup totalling 106, including one start, in which the 23-year-old failed to score or assist a goal and was not included in 16 matchday squads.

Mir has been vastly more productive in the Spanish second division with Huesca, for whom he has averaged 0.8 shots per game, alongside 0.3 key balls and 1.6 duels won (44%), per Sofa Score, and could now be in with a chance of playing La Liga football next term if he does not return to England.
