According to Football Insider, Leeds United ‘signing’ Helder Costa from Wolverhampton Wanderers will be ‘unaffected’ by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Costa joined Leeds on a season-long loan last summer with a view to turning the move permanent, so the Whites are obligated to pay £15m in instalments across four years.
The Covid-19 has caused football in the UK to be postponed, but Football Insider say Costa will become a permanent Leeds player on July 1 regardless.
The 26-year-old initially joined Wolves on loan from Benfica in 2016 and turned the move permanent in 2017. He’s made 109 appearances in all competitions for the Midlands outfit, scoring 19 goals and making 19 assists, but his last game in a Wolves shirt was more than 12 months ago.
Costa has made 40 appearances for Leeds, scoring four goals and making five assists. As per WhoScored, the Portuguese international has created 34 chances, made 53 successful dribbles (47.3%), whipped in 89 crosses with 7.8% accuracy, had 55 shots with 30.9% hitting the target and winning 41 free-kicks.
With Adama Traore, Daniel Podence, Diogo Jota and Pedro Neto at their disposal, Wolves have no need for Costa. And with only four goals/assists in 30 games last season, it’s easy to see why the Midlands outfit are parting company.
