Report: Club ‘eye’ highly-rated Wolves midfielder, manager ‘wants £50m-rated’ player

According to The Sun, Liverpool ‘eye’ Ruben Neves this summer, as Jurgen Klopp ‘wants the £50m-rated’ midfielder to compete with Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita for a starting place next season.

Neves has been outstanding for Wolverhampton Wanderers, attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in recent weeks, so his future at Molineux may be uncertain.

Which club did Wolves sign Raul Jimenez from?

The 23-year-old has made 125 appearances in all competitions since joining Wolves from FC Porto, scoring 15 goals and making seven assists. Neves has played in 43 games this season, contributing six goals.

As per WhoScored, the Portuguese international has created 20 chances, made 21/24 successful dribbles, completed 78.8% of his 1432 passes while averaging a tackle (45) or interception (42) every 26 minutes.

Neves is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and impressed in 2019/20, so it’s no surprise that clubs are clamouring for his signature. The 23-year-old still has three more years on his deal at Molineux, however, so Wolves hold all the cards in negotiations.

The Sun say Liverpool are short of transfer funds and want to sign the £60m-rated Adama Traore, so will they have enough money to throw at Neves too?
