Report Claims Former Club Are Sniffing Around Wolves Star

|

Few Wolverhampton Wanderers fans knew what to expect when we brought in Diogo Jota from Atletico Madrid as despite having an impressive record at Pacos Ferreira and Porto, he hadn’t actually made his debut for the Spanish side. In any event, we identified the now 23-year-old Portuguese international as the man for us and we brought him in on a season long loan deal back in 2017.

Having hugely impressed in our title winning Championship campaign, we snapped him up on a permanent basis and although he took a bit of time to adjust to the Premier League level, he’s more than proven his worth with ten goals in his opening top flight season, and ahead of the current pause in the fixture list, he’d chipped in with another 15 across all competitions.

With international recognition coming his way this year, Spanish outlet Marca (via the Birmingham Mail) have claimed that Atleti want him back and are willing to cough up £30million to add him to Diego Simeone’s options.

Now whilst it sounds like a plausible story, I just can’t see it happening. We’re used to our stars being linked with big money moves away but Wolves are progressing. We’ve had a good Europa League campaign and we look odds on for a possible Champions League campaign depending on how 2019/20 comes to an end, and with Jota improving and gaining international caps in the process, I’d imagine a move away is the last thing on his mind right now.

Would £30m Give Wolves A Question To Answer?

We'd Have To Consider It
