Back in May Wolves announced plans to redevelop Molineux and now four months later those plans have been officially submitted.
The £40 million regeneration will see capacity increased to 37,000 by the start of the 2014/15 season, at which point Wolves will decide whether a further expansion to 50,000 is required.
“There has been a huge amount of work undertaken to get to this point today and, once again, I`d like to thank the city council for their help and support.’ Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the Express & Star.
Jez continued: ‘We`ve conducted formal consultation with residents and stakeholders. More than 1,000 local people were invited to view the plans and the feedback from attendees was very positive. We will continue to work with the council to iron out any issues, which may arise.
‘At a time of bad news about the economy and the impact on Wolverhampton, we want the proposed Molineux redevelopment to be a source of Civic pride for everyone connected to the club and the City.’
The Stan Cullis and Steve Bull Stands will be demolished under the plans with new two tier stands built to replace them.
The Jack Harris stand will remain, but with an additional tier added.
Molineux will have a reduced capacity while the work is carried out and details on how this will affect season ticket holders will be announced next year.
