Wolverhampton Wanderers confirm that Oskar Buur has signed a new contract until 2023. The 21-year-old’s existing deal was set to expire at the end of next season, but Wolves were keen to tie him down for the long-term as reward for his progress in the last 12 months.

Buur is now deemed a permanent member of the first-team, providing cover for Matt Doherty at right-back. He joined Wolves from Brabrand IF in 2017 and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions. The Dane was playing for the u23s at the start of the season but now frequently makes the first-team matchday squad.

Buur’s made two appearances this campaign – in Wolves’ 4-0 win over Besiktas (December 12, 2019) and in their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United (January 15, 2020). He’s since been an unused substitute in four Premier League games, one EFL Cup outing, one FA Cup outing and one Europa League clash – Thursday’s 3-2 defeat to Espanyol (February 27).

Despite the lack of appearances, Nuno rates Buur highly and may give him more opportunities before the season comes to a close.
