Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has again been facing questions about his impromptu pitch invasion as we took a late victory over Leicester City the other weekend.

Scoring late on as Diogo Jota completed his hattrick to take a 4-3 victory at the Molineux last Saturday, Nuno saw himself sent off (although the same referee failed to do that to Jurgen Klopp earlier in the season when he did the same thing) and the Football Association sent in the obligatory charge.

Having held his hands up in his immediate post-game press conference and admitted the referee made the right decision, Nuno didn’t dispute the charge and he was handed an £8000 fine.

Fans in response set up a fundraising page to give their thanks and backing to the gaffer and speaking to Sky Sports he certainly appreciated that gesture and promised that all monies raised would be going to charity.

“I appreciate it but for sure that money will go to charity.”

Speaking more generally about his moment of ‘joy’ plenty of fans will love the fact he hasn’t ruled out doing it again as he gets lost in the moment.

“Everybody knows it is hard to contain those emotions in such a special moment. Last minute of the game, last goal, it gave us such an important victory. I tried to be as far away as possible to avoid the situation. But I maintain my opinion the referee made the right decision but at the same time I think everybody understood why I went onto the pitch. It’s very difficult to say I won’t do it again. I think that goes for everybody, managers and players. It is such a moment of thrill that sometimes you cannot sustain yourself – it’s difficult.”

Passion, nothing better.
