Wolves and Franck Kessie is a rumour which just won’t go away – and the latest reports suggest that the deal is far from dead in the water.

According to reports from Italian outlet Calciomercato.com (via Birmingham Live), Wolves still have an eye on the player, as well as West Ham United.

The two were both linked to the man in the January transfer window, yet nothing ever materialised and he remained an AC Milan player.

With the coronavirus outbreak, modern-day football is understandably in unchartered territory, and that means that clubs aren’t entirely sure when the transfer windows will be taking place as they’re sure when the seasons are finished, so any transfer is up in the air at the moment.

Nevertheless, the report still says that Wolves are monitoring the situation of the player, as they wait for confirmation from the FA before they make another move.

The current situation suggests that football will restart again on April 30, however, whether that will take place is an enormous doubt, as predicting what the predicament will be with the virus at that stage is nearly impossible.

Should Wolverhampton Wanderers sign Franck Kessie?

Yes, he would be a good addition

Nope - we should spend our money elsewhere

Taking a step back from the global pandemic, and you can argue that there are some positions which probably need strengthening before central midfield – most notably centre defence – but that doesn’t mean there isn’t space for a new midfielder.

With Joao Moutinho already 33, and the only other players available in that position who have played this season being Ruben Neves, Morgan Gibbs-White, Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss, there is probably another space for a talented central midfield player. With Dendoncker and Saiss largely playing at defence this season, Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho – as good as they are – are just automatic shoo-ins to start.

Kessie’s not had a great season, however. From his 23 league appearances this season, WhoScored’s algorithm believe he only averages 6.55/10 per game – the 17th highest average from all of the Milan players this season.

That form has been mirrored by Milan, too, with the club only seventh in the league with just 36 points from 26 games.

The Ivorian might not be in the best of form, but it could be a good opportunity to pounce considering his stock is pretty low at the moment.
