Nuno Espirito Santo and his team won’t say it, but they know they’ve got a good chance of challenging for this Europa League, especially now they’ve got Olympiacos in the last 16.

Yes, Olympiacos may have just knocked out Arsenal from the competition when they put out a near full-strength side, but considering that Wolves managed to pickpocket arguably their best player in January and he is only on the fringes of their team is proof that they are big favourites for this one.

There are plenty of great teams left in the final 16 of this competition, so they’ve done well to ignore the likes of Inter Milan, Manchester United, Sevilla and Roma in the next round.

Even so, Wolves will fancy themselves to be able to beat any side in this competition over two legs, but once they reach the quarter-final stage, the dream starts to feel tangible.

The fact that they managed to thump Espanyol 6-3 over two legs is good evidence that they are not just here to make up the numbers. They might be rooted to the bottom of La Liga, but it will certainly send a message to the rest of the competition.

How will we get on against Spurs on the weekend?

The Athens-based side have had a difficult few years, but seem to have found their mojo back. The Greek tend to win the title more often than not, and after not winning it since 2017 due to AEK Athens and PAOK having some good seasons, they are now back at the top of the tree in the Super League.

Wolves should be advancing through this tie, but they shouldn’t – and most likely won’t due to they way they beat Arsenal – underestimate their opponents.

So far this campaign, they are unbeaten domestically. After 25 games in the league, and a cup run, they are still yet to lose. The only games they have lost this season have come in the Champions League and the first round of the Europa League, so they are likely to be brimming with confidence.

Nevertheless, a calm and assured performance from Wolves should be enough to jump this hurdle, and once they are out of the way, they will be just three ties away from lifting the trophy.
