It’s Not Over

Glenn Hoddle has refused to write off Wolves promotion dreams despite a woeful display and a 1-0 loss to Sheffield United.

Hoddle says that Sheffield Utd boss Neil Warnock wouldn’t think the title race is won! ‘If you ask Neil if it’s all over, then I don’t think he’ll be saying they’ve already won the league. But they’re in a strong position and everyone’s got to chase them. I don’t think there was a massive difference between us and them.’

Erm, right, ok. 4 wins and 2 draws seems a pretty big differene to me but…..

‘They are 14 points ahead, but I still think with this squad, and maybe or two additions, that we can still get promotion this year and that hasn’t changed.’

However Hoddle admits the players weren’t up for it and says he can’t understand why they were so poor in the first half.

‘I’ve asked the players why they weren’t up for it. We lost too many battles and too many second balls. We have come here and not given ourselves a chance of winning the game, and that’s disappointing.’

Although he thinks Wolves were unlucky not to scrape a point at least.

‘I think we dominated the second half for long periods and thought we could have got something out of it because they were hanging on a little bit in the end. But the bottom line is that if you analyse it, then the second half wasn’t a problem, but we’ve paid for that first-half performance.’
